Hawley Bearcats Make All District Baseball Team

Kelsey Cagle, senior, and Eric Patetta, junior, made first team outfield in the District 4-2A baseball team. Andrew Cadle. Junior, was named second team pitcher. Casey Wilkerson, sophomore, was named honorable mention third base.

Wes Lambert, junior, was named second team second base. Dustin Polk, junior, was named second team utility player.

Brendon Bounds Wins Bronze at State Track Meet

Brendon Bounds, a Hawley sophomore, captured the bronze medal in the 800-meter run on Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the Class 2A division of the UIL Track and Field meet held in Austin, Texas. Brendon’s time was a personal best of 1:56.72.

Wesley Lambert was named the Most Valuable Baseball Player at the Hawley Athletic Banquet. Wes is a junior at HHS and is the son of Don and Rea Lambert of Hawley.

Lexi Almy was named the Most Valuable Softball Player at the Hawley Athletic Banquet. Lexi is a senior at HHS and is planning to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall.

Hawley’s Bounds Headed to State Track Meet

Brendon Bounds, a sophomore at Hawley High School, will be participating in the state track meet on May 14, 2005 in Austin, Texas in the 800-meter run. Brendon placed 2nd in the regional meet held on Saturday, May 30, 2005, at Abilene Christian University. Brendon’s time was 2:00.60. Brendon also placed 3rd in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:39.41.

The boys 1600-meter relay (Seth Lockwood, Brendon Bounds, Josh Winegeart and Daniel Winegeart) placed 8th in the finals.

Also participating in the regional track meet for the boys were Seth Keith (110 and 300 meter hurdles, sprint relay), Daniel Winegeart (3200 meters, 400 meters, and triple jump), Josh Winegeart (200 meters and sprint relay), Billy Penney (sprint relay) and James Mooney (sprint relay).

Britney Jordan placed 3rd in the high jump with a jump of 5’2”. Also participating for the girls at the regional meet were Adrianne Akins (100 and 300 hurdles) and Sara Long (400 meters).
