Hawley J.V. Defeats Rotan

The Hawley JV played an extremely tough game on Thursday. Both teams wasted several scoring opportunities due to turnovers. The defense on both teams played very well. Leaving the score 0-0 at half time. In the 3rd quarter Hawley finally got the break they needed when Tanner Thompson intercepted the Rotan pass and returned it 65 yards for the score. The extra point by Kaleb Faulks was good. Later in the 3rd Hawley scored again on a 6 yard run by Daniel Brewer. The extra point was no good. The game ended on an interception by Kyle Compton, which was returned 50 yards to the end zone only to have it called back on a penalty. Final score Hawley 13 – Rotan 6. Great Job JV.

Hawley 8th grade Football

The Hawley 8th grade played very well on Thursday against Rotan scoring 35 points and giving up 6. Hawley got the scoring started with a pass from Billy Brosh to Casey Waits for a 45-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion from Brosh to Zak Ross was good. In the second quarter, Zak Ross scored on a 20 yard TD run. The 2-point conversion was good by Brett DeVore. Hawley scored on a 52 yard TD reception from Brosh to Z. Ross and the extra point was good by Brosh. In the 3rd quarter Hawley scored on a 50 yard TD run by DeVore. Colton Patterson adds to the final score with a 35-yard TD run. Great job 8th Grade!

Hawley Varsity Boys Cross Country Team Wins Meet

The Hawley Varsity Boys Cross Country team won the McMurry meet that was held Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Abilene State Park. The team had a total of 42 points.

Brendon Bounds led the group with his first place finish with a time of 17:22.
Bobby Schaefer placed 6th with a time of 19:05. Justin Bristow came in 13th with a time of 19:59. Kyle Compton had a great race placing 14th with a time of 20:17. The first fifteen places received a medal so Brendon, Bobby, Justin and Kyle all brought home a medal for their efforts.

Seth Manly placed 16th and his time was 20:30. Rodney Rud was 20th and Kevin Harp 21st.

In the JV division, Colen Penton placed 3rd.

Hawley Middle School Boys Compete in Cross Country

The Hawley Middle School Cross Country team ran at the Abilene State Park on Saturday, September 23, 2006. The team placed 4th with 83 points.
Nathan Ross brought home a medal with his 2nd place finish. Zak Ross with his 9th place finish also medaled. Jacob Olague finished 17th and
Casey Waits placed 23rd. Ross Compton came in 30th and Cody Powers placed 43rd.

Hawley 7th grade wins against Rotan

The Hawley 7th grade had another great game against Rotan. In the open kick off Frankie Harris recovered a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion was a success by Harris. Rotan had several fumbles recovered by Ryan Ortega, James Miller, and several other Bearcats. At half time the score was 24-0. In the 3rd and 4th quarter the Bearcats continued to dominate. Ryan Ortega ran a kick off back for 20 yards and Harris took a hand off for another TD. Harris intercepted a Rotan pass in the 4th for a TD and Colton Pack ran in the 2-point conversion. The defense had a great game by shutting down the Yellowhammers for 0 points. The final score Bearcats 43- Rotan 0. Great job 7th grade!
