The Hawley Track Teams District Meet Results

The Hawley Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys and the Varsity Girls traveled to Stanton on Friday, April 15, 2005 for the district track meet. Despite the extremely long bus ride, the 30-minute rain/lightning delay, and the 15-20 mile per hour winds, three of the Lady Cats and seven of the Varsity Boys were able to advance to the regional track meet which will be held at Abilene Christian University on April 29 and 30, 2005.

In the field events, Britney Jordan qualified for regionals placing 1st in the high jump with a jump of 5’. Chelsea Phillips tied for 4th with a jump of 4’6”. In the discus, Toni Hargis placed 6th with a throw of 82’5”. In the triple jump, Tiffany Griffin placed 5th with a jump of 32’1”.

In the long jump, Britney Jordan also qualified for the regional meet placing 3rd with a jump of 14’9-1/2”.

The 400 meter relay (Amber McCoy, Chelsea Phillips, Adrianne Akins, Kandice Caffey) placed 4th with a time of 53.11. In the 800 meters, Britney Jordan placed 4th with a time of 2:44.19.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Adrianne Akins qualified for regionals placing 2nd with a time of 16.60. Tiffany Griffin placed 5th with a time of 19.24.

In the 400 meter run, Sara Long qualified for regionals placing 3rd with a time of 1:05.22.

Adrianne Akins also won the right to run the 300 meter hurdles at regionals placing 1st with a time of 53.25. Also placing in the 300-meter hurdles was Sara DuPont, 4th, with a time of 54.32. Tiffany Griffin placed 6th with a time of 58.60.

In the 200 meters, Kandice Caffey placed 4th with a time of 28.10 and Amber McCoy placed 5th with a time of 28.67.

In the 3200 meters, Jessica Akins placed 5th with a time of 14:40.42. The 1600 meter relay (Chelsea Phillips, Britney Jordan, Jennifer Gaston, Sara Long) placed 4th with a time of 4:29.46.

The girls placed 5th overall in the meet with 80 points.

The Varsity Boys placed third overall with 132 points, behind Stanton who had 141. Brendon Bounds qualified for regionals with his first place win in the 800 meters, (2:01.59), and his first place win in the 1600 meters (4:51.06). Bounds is also a part of the 1600 meter relay that advanced to regionals. Also qualifying for regionals was Seth Keith, first place in the 110-meter hurdles (16:61) and 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles (43.15). Keith is also a part of the 400-meter relay, which qualified. Daniel Winegeart is going to regionals in the 3200 meters (2nd with a time of 10:59.10) 400 meters (2nd with a time of 53.78) and the triple jump (3rd with a jump of 39). Daniel is also a part of the 1600-meter relay, which advanced to regionals. Josh Winegeart also qualified for regionals with his third place finish in the 200 meters (23.90) and is a part of the
400-meter relay and 1600 meter relay which qualified for regionals.

Bounds, Josh Winegeart, Daniel Winegeart and Seth Lockwood qualified for regionals with a second place finish in the 1600 meter relay (3:33.91). The alternates for the mile relay for regionals are Kelsey Cagle, Kyle Sloan, Nathan Sharp and Billy Malone.

The 400 meter relay consisting of Billy Malone, Josh Winegeart, Seth Keith and Billy Penney qualified for regionals placing 2nd with a time of 45.05. The alternates for the relay for regionals are Kelsey Cagle, James Mooney, Kyle Sloan and Nathan Sharp.

Chad Taillon placed 5th in the discus with a throw of 117’2”. Kelsey Cagle placed 5th in the high jump with a jump of 5’6”. James Mooney placed 4th in the long jump with a jump of 18’5”.

In the 110 hurdles, Tracy Whitehead placed 5th and Kelsey Cagle placed 6th. The 800-meter relay consisting of Billy Penney, Billy Malone, Kyle Sloan and Nathan Sharp placed 4th.

Seth Lockwood placed 4th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.58. Tracy Whitehead placed 6th in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.17.

In the 100 meters, Billy Penney placed 4th (11.62) and Billy Malone placed 5th (11.92). Seth Manly placed 5th in the 1600 meter run (5:06.91).

On the JV boys team, Rodney Rudd placed 1st in the 800 meter run. Jeremy Gwinn also brought home a gold medal in the 200-meter dash. The 800-meter relay (Gwinn, Colby Kinnard, Jesse Duke, Nick Romero) placed 2nd. Colby Kinnard placed 2nd in the 400 meters. The 1600-meter relay (Gwinn, Kinnard, Rudd and Romero) placed 2nd. Nick Romero placed 6th in the 100 meter dash and John Hardesty placed 5th in the 1600 meter run.

Good job, Lady Cats and Bearcats. Good Luck to our Regional Qualifiers.

Hawley High School District Tennis Team Results

The Hawley High School District Tennis teams competed at Rose Park on April 12th and 13th. The JV District results are Randall Storey and Ryder Chapman placed 4th in the boys doubles. In the JV girls, Tisha Bristow placed third in the girls singles. Jennifer Gaston and Mercades Ortega placed third in girls doubles.

The Varsity team did a great job and cut it close on all their matches. Brittany Florence placed 4th in girls varsity singles.

Hawley Varsity Boys Track Team Results

The Hawley Varsity Boys track team participated in the Lone Wolf Relays at Colorado City on Saturday, April 9, 2005.

Brendon Bounds continued to bring home the gold medals, winning the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run. He also was on the 1600 meter relay, along with Seth Lockwood, Josh Winegeart and Daniel Winegeart, which placed third.

Daniel Winegeart brought home three bronze medals, placing third in the 3200 meter run, 400-meter run, and the 1600 meter relay. Seth Keith earned a bronze medal in the 300 meter hurdles.

The 400 meter relay (James Mooney, Nathan Sharp, Billy Malone and Billy Penney) placed 5th. The 800 meter relay (Josh Winegeart, Nathan Sharp, Billy Malone and Billy Penney) placed 5th.

Kyle Sloan placed 5th in the 800 meter run. Kelsey Cagle placed 4th in the 110 meter hurdles. Josh Winegeart placed 4th in the 200 meter dash. Steven Houck placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles. Seth Manly placed 4th in the 3200 meter run. Seth Lockwood placed 6th in the 400 meter run.

In the field events, Chad Taillon placed 6th in the discus. In the high jump, James Mooney placed 5th and Kelsey Cagle placed 6th.

In the Junior Varsity division, Jeremy Gwinn won a gold medal in the 200 meter dash. The 800 meter relay (Jeremy Gwinn, Rodney Rudd, Nick Romero, Colby Kinnard) placed 3rd. Colby Kinnard placed 3rd n the 400 meter dash. Rodney Rudd placed 3rd in the 800 meter run. Nick Romero placed 5th in the 100 meter dash. John Hardesty placed 5th in the 1600 meter run. The 1600 meter relay (Jeremy Gwinn, Colby Kinnard, Rodney Rudd, Nick Romero) placed 3rd. In the field events, John Hardesty placed 5th in the discus.

Hawley Girls Track Action in Anson and Colorado City

The Hawley Varsity girls track team traveled to Anson on April 2, 2005 and placed third in their meet. Britney Jordan brought home two gold medals. One was in the 800 run where she ran a time of 2:39.20. The other gold medal was won in the high jump with a jump of 5’2”.

Adrianne Akins also brought home gold in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.85.

The 400 meter relay (Jennifer Gaston, Chelsea Phillips, Adrianne Akins, and Kandice Caffey) placed 3rd with a time of 53.61. The 800 meter relay placed 3rd with a time of 1:55.64. Running on the relay were Jennifer Gaston, Adrianne Akins, Leslie Bradford and Kandice Caffey. The 1600 meter relay (Chelsea Phillips, Britney Jordan, Sara Long and Jennifer Gaston) placed 3rd with a time of 4:27.82.

Chelsea Phillips placed 4th in the 400 meter run. In the 300 hurdles, Sara DuPont placed 4th (55.55) and Tiffany Griffin placed 6th (55.99). Kandice Caffey placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.77.

In the shot put, Toni Hargis placed 6th with a distance of 28 feet, 6 inches. Britney Jordan placed 4th in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 2-1/2 inches.

Coach Doyle thought that the girls did a great job and competed well and there was a great effort by everyone.

On April 9, 2005, the girls traveled to Colorado City. In the 300 hurdles, Sara DuPont placed 2nd (53.73) and Adrianne Akins placed 4th (55.64). In the 3200 meter run, Jessica Akins placed 5th with a time of 14:52.05. The 400 meter relay (Jennifer Gaston, Raven Wells, Adrianne Akins and Kandice Caffey) placed 5th with a time of 54.70. The 800 meter relay (Kandice Caffey, Leslie Bradford, Jennifer Gaston and Raven Wells) placed 6th.

In the 100 hurdles, Adrianne Akins placed 3rd and Leslie Bradford placed 4th. Kandice Caffey placed 6th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.38.

Toni Hargis placed 4th in the shot put (29’1.5”) and 3rd in the discus (88’3”).

The girls will be competing in the district meet on Friday, April 15, 2005 in Stanton.

Hawley Varsity Boys Track Team Traveled to Anson

The Hawley Varsity Boys track team participated in the Anson track meet on Saturday, April 2, 2005. Brendon Bounds won the only gold medal for Hawley placing 1st in the 800 meter run. Kyle Sloan placed 4th in the 800 meter run.

Seth Keith was able to bring home a silver with his second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles. Steven Houck placed 6th in the 300 meter hurdles. Keith also placed 3rd in the 110 high hurdles and Steven Houck placed 5th.

Daniel Winegeart placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash, and Seth Lockwood placed 6th. Seth Manly placed 6th in the 3200 meter run.

The 400 meter relay (Kyle Sloan, Josh Winegeart, Seth Keith and Billy Malone placed 6th. The 800 meter relay (Daniel Winegeart, Josh Winegeart, Sloan and Malone) placed 5th. The 1600 meter relay (Josh Winegeart, Bounds, Lockwood and Daniel Winegeart) placed 6th.

In the field events, Daniel Winegeart placed 6th and Kelsey Cagle placed 6th in the triple jump. In the discus, Josh Martinez placed sixth. Cooper Barbee placed 5th in the shot put, and Kelsey Cagle placed 5th in the high jump.

In the JV division, Rodney Rudd placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 6th in the 400 meter dash. Nathan Sharp placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash, and 2nd in the 400 meter dash.

The boys will be competing on Saturday at Colorado City.

Hawley Varsity Girls Track Team Results

The Hawley Varsity Girls traveled in Hamlin on March 24, 2005. Britney Jordan brought home a gold medal in the high jump. She also placed 4th in the long jump. Adrianne Akins placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles. Also placing were Tiffany Griffin, 3rd, and Sara DuPont, 6th. Amber McCoy placed 2nd in the 200 yard dash, and Kandice Caffey placed 5th.

In the 400 yard dash, Chelsea Phillips placed 3rd. In the 300 hurdles, Sara DuPont placed 4th and Tiffany Griffin placed 6th.

In the relays, the sprint relay (Amber McCoy, Chelsea Phillips, Adrianne Akins, and Kandice Caffey) placed 4th. In the 800 relay, (Kandice Caffey, Leslie Bradford, Jennifer Gaston and Amber McCoy) placed 4th. In the 1600 run, Jessica Akins placed 6th.

In the field events, Toni Hargis placed 2nd.

On March 19, 2005, the girls traveled to Eula. The 400 relay (Amber McCoy, Chelsea Phillips, Adrianne Akins and Kandice Caffey), placed 6th with a time of 54.16. Adrianne Akins placed 4th in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.35. In the 800 relay, Leslie Bradford, Jennifer Gaston, Amber McCoy and Kandice Caffey placed 6th with a time of 1:56.26. In the 200 dash, Kandice Caffey placed 5th with a time of 28.78.

Hawley Boys Track Team Competes at Eula

The Hawley Boys track team competed at the Eula Pirates track meet on Saturday, March 19, 2005. The varsity team placed 5th out of 14 teams.

Leading the Bearcats was Brendon Bounds who brought home two gold medals. He placed 1st in both the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run. Brendon, along with teammates Josh Winegeart, Seth Lockwood and Daniel Winegeart won a silver medal in the 1600 meter relay. Daniel Winegeart placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash, and Seth Lockwood placed 5th. Daniel Winegeart also placed 5th in the 3200 meter run. Seth Keith placed 6th in the 110 high hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. The 400 meter relay ran by Billy Malone, Josh Winegeart, Seth Keith and Billy Penney placed 5th. The 800 meter relay of Malone, Josh Winegeart, Lockwood and Billy Penney placed 6th.

In the field events, Cooper Barbee placed 6th in the shot put. In the discus, Chad Tallion placed 5th and Cooper Barbee placed 6th.

In the Junior Varsity division, Steven Houck placed 2nd in the 110 high hurdles and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles. Jeremy Gwinn placed 2nd in the20 meter dash. The 800 meter relay ran by Nick Romero, Nathan Sharp, Jeremy Gwinn and Colby Kinnard placed 5th.

The boys will be competing at Hamlin on Thursday, March 24, 2005.

Hawley Boys Track Team Action

The Hawley Boys track team started their season at Winters at the Blizzard Relays. The Varsity Boys placed second in the competition as a team with 131 points. Roscoe won the met with 136 points.

Billy Penny placed fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.08. The 800 meter relay placed third with a time of 1:40.84. In the 400 meter dash Colby Kinnard placed third, 58.59, and Jeremy Gwinn placed sixth, 62.13.

In the 300 meter hurdles Seth Keith placed second with a time of 46.28 and Seth Manly placed third with a time of 46.69. In the 1600 meter run, Brendon Bounds placed first with a time of 4:54.84 and Manly placed sixth, 5:37.28.

In the mile relay, Hawley placed third with a time of 3:50.52.

In the field events, Chad Taillon placed 4th in the discus, 104 feet, and Josh Martinez placed fifth, 102 feet.

In the high jump Winegeart placed fifth, 5’6”. In the shot put, Cooper Barbee placed third, throwing 39’9”. In the triple jump, Winegeart placed third jumping 38’ 5-1/4 inches.

Tracy Whitehead placed second in the 3200 meter run, and Winegeart placed sixth. The 400 meter relay placed second.

In the 800 meter run, Bounds placed 1st with a time of 2:06.88, and Manly placed third, 2:20.45. In the 110 hurdles, Keith placed 2nd and Whitehead placed 4th.

In the JV boys division, Nick Romero placed 4th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 63.07. Jon Hardesty placed 5th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:22.70.

Next the track team traveled to Roscoe to compete. In the varsity division, Winegeart placed 4th in the 3200 meter run. The 4x100 relay consisting of Billy Malone, James Mooney, Seth Lockwood and Billy Penney placed 4th. Brendon Bounds placed 1st in the 800 meter run. Seth Keith placed 3rd in the 110 hurdles. The 4x200 relay consisting of Billy Malone, James Mooney, Seth Lockwood and Billy Penney placed 5th. Winegeart placed 1st in the 400. Keith placed 4th in the 300 hurdles. Bounds placed 2nd in the 1600. The mile relay consisting of Lockwood, Malone, Bounds and Winegeart placed 6th. Chad Taillon placed sixth in the discus.

In the JV division, Robert Hall placed 6th in the shot put.

The next Saturday, the boys competed at the Haskell track meet. Winegeart placed 2nd in the 3200. Tracy Whitehead placed 2nd in the 110 hurdles. Bounds placed 1st in the 800, and Manly placed 6th. Winegeart placed 1st in the 400 and Kinnard placed 6th. Seth Manly placed 6th in the 300 hurdles. Brendon Bounds placed 1st in the 1600.

The 4x400 relay placed 6th, ran by Malone, Bounds, Kinnard and Winegeart. The 4x200 relay placed 6th, ran by Malone, Kinnard, Whitehead and Manly.

In the JV division, Jeremy Gwinn placed 6th in the 800, 4th in the 400, and 4th in the 200.
Jon Hardesty placed 6th in the 1600, 5th in the discus and 4th in the shot put.

Hawley Girls Track Team Action

The Hawley girls first track meet was at Winters on February 26, 2005. As a team they tied for 5th out of ten teams. The 400 meter relay, consisting of Jennifer Gaston, Tiffany Griffin, Chelsea Phillips and Kandice Caffey placed 5th with a time of 56.62. In the 800 meter dash, Brittany Jordan placed 1st with a time of 2:44.56. In the 100 hurdles, Tiffany Griffin placed 2nd with a time of 19.30, and Leslie Bradford placed 4th with a time of 20.33.

The 800 meter relay consisting of Leslie Bradford, Jessica Malone, Raven Wells and Kandice Caffey placed 4th with a time of 2:03.74. Chelsea Phillips placed 5th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:10.20. In the 300 hurdles Tiffany Griffin placed 6th with a time of 59.25. In the 200 meter dash Kandice Caffey placed 3rd with a time of 30.56.

In the field events, Toni Hargis placed 5th with a throw of 77’6”. Brittany Jordan placed first in the high jump with a jump of 5’.

At the Haskell track meet, the team placed 8th out of 10 teams. Jessica Akins placed 6th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 16:24.77. The 400 meter relay consisting of Jennifer Gaston, Tiffany Griffin, Adrianne Akins and Kandice Caffey placed 4th with a time of 53.47. In the 100 hurdles Adrianne Akins placed 3rd with a time of 17.73 and Tiffany Griffin placed 5th with a time of 18.34. In the 200 meter dash, Kandice Caffey placed 5th with a time of 28.28.

Hawley Varsity Boys Track Team Captures Second

If you are feeling tired and sluggish, I suggest that you make plans to attend the next track meet of the Hawley Bearcats. Watching the pumped-up, psyched-up mile relay (Josh Winegeart, Brendon Bounds, Seth Lockwood and Daniel Winegeart) run at Hamlin for a first place finish, left everyone with an adrenaline rush. This win helped place the team in second place.

There was lots of action for the Hawley Bearcats at the Hamlin relays. Brendon Bounds, who is currently undefeated in the 800 meter run, kept his streak alive Saturday with a first place. Brendon Bounds also won the 1600-meter run, and Seth Manly placed 6th.

Daniel Winegeart brought home a 1st place in the 400-meter dash, and Seth Lockwood was 4th. Seth Keith placed 2nd in the 110 high hurdles and Josh Winegeart placed 4th. Seth Keith placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles. The 400-meter relay of Kody Sims, Billy Malone, Seth Keith and Billy Penney placed 3rd.

In the 100-meter dash, Billy Penney placed 5th and Billy Malone placed 6th. In the 800-meter relay, Seth Lockwood, Jeremy Gwinn, Kody Sims and Billy Penney placed 6th. In the 3200 meter run, Daniel Winegeart placed 3rd and Seth Manly placed 5th.

In the field events, Josh Martinez placed 3rd in the discus and Cooper Barbee placed 6th.
In the shot put, Cooper Barbee placed 3rd. Daniel Winegeart placed 6th in the triple jump, and Kody Sims placed 4th in the high jump.

In the JV Boys division, Colby Kinnard placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash. Steven Houck placed 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles. The 400-meter relay consisting of Robert Hall, Nathan Sharp, Nick Romero and Steven Houck placed 3rd. Steven Houck placed 4th in the 110 high hurdles.

The 1600 meter relay (Robert Hall, Colby Kinnard, Nick Romero and Nathan Sharp) placed 6th, and the 800 meter relay (Robert Hall, Nathan Sharp, Nick Romero and Colby Kinnard) placed 6th.

In the field events, Jon Hardesty placed 5th in the discus and Jesse Duke placed 5th in the shot put.

The Hawley Bearcats will be at Anson on Saturday.
