Hawley Girls Track Action in Anson and Colorado City
The Hawley Varsity girls track team traveled to Anson on April 2, 2005 and placed third in their meet. Britney Jordan brought home two gold medals. One was in the 800 run where she ran a time of 2:39.20. The other gold medal was won in the high jump with a jump of 5’2”.
Adrianne Akins also brought home gold in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.85.
The 400 meter relay (Jennifer Gaston, Chelsea Phillips, Adrianne Akins, and Kandice Caffey) placed 3rd with a time of 53.61. The 800 meter relay placed 3rd with a time of 1:55.64. Running on the relay were Jennifer Gaston, Adrianne Akins, Leslie Bradford and Kandice Caffey. The 1600 meter relay (Chelsea Phillips, Britney Jordan, Sara Long and Jennifer Gaston) placed 3rd with a time of 4:27.82.
Chelsea Phillips placed 4th in the 400 meter run. In the 300 hurdles, Sara DuPont placed 4th (55.55) and Tiffany Griffin placed 6th (55.99). Kandice Caffey placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.77.
In the shot put, Toni Hargis placed 6th with a distance of 28 feet, 6 inches. Britney Jordan placed 4th in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet, 2-1/2 inches.
Coach Doyle thought that the girls did a great job and competed well and there was a great effort by everyone.
On April 9, 2005, the girls traveled to Colorado City. In the 300 hurdles, Sara DuPont placed 2nd (53.73) and Adrianne Akins placed 4th (55.64). In the 3200 meter run, Jessica Akins placed 5th with a time of 14:52.05. The 400 meter relay (Jennifer Gaston, Raven Wells, Adrianne Akins and Kandice Caffey) placed 5th with a time of 54.70. The 800 meter relay (Kandice Caffey, Leslie Bradford, Jennifer Gaston and Raven Wells) placed 6th.
In the 100 hurdles, Adrianne Akins placed 3rd and Leslie Bradford placed 4th. Kandice Caffey placed 6th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.38.
Toni Hargis placed 4th in the shot put (29’1.5”) and 3rd in the discus (88’3”).
The girls will be competing in the district meet on Friday, April 15, 2005 in Stanton.
